Bluemoon vs Profound

Two AI-visibility platforms, built for different buyers. What each one publishes, where the other is stronger, and how to tell which you need.

Pick Profound, or pick Bluemoon

Two lists of roughly equal length. If the left-hand column describes you, buy the other product — you will be happier and we will not have wasted your quarter.

Pick Profound if

  • You want measurement and content production in one contract, with agents that draft and publish into your CMS under approval.
  • You need prompt-demand data — Profound licenses conversations from opted-in consumer panels, which is a different dataset from anything Bluemoon collects.
  • Your procurement requires a current SOC 2 Type 2 report at signature. Profound publishes one; Bluemoon documents controls instead.
  • You track ChatGPT Shopping and need SKU-level placement and attribute accuracy.
  • You have the budget and the procurement patience for a custom-quoted enterprise contract.

Pick Bluemoon if

  • You want to know the price before you talk to anyone. Ours are on the pricing page in Swiss francs, euros and US dollars.
  • You care where the number came from: every rate in Bluemoon carries the count of answers behind it, and a dash means not measured, never zero.
  • You sell in several markets and want each one collected from inside it, rather than a global average.
  • You want the raw material, not a summary: every answer is stored in full with the sources it cited, and you can read them.
  • You are a Swiss or European team that wants to deal with a Swiss company and a plain subprocessor list.

What both products do

The shared baseline, so the differences below are the actual decision.

Both products ask real questions of real answer engines on a schedule, store what comes back, and report how often a brand is named and which sources the engines relied on. Both cover ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot. Both separate a brand being mentioned from a brand being cited, and both track competitors alongside you. If your question is simply whether AI answers name you, either will answer it.

Where they differ

Four differences that change what you get, each with the page it rests on.

  1. 01

    Published prices against custom quotes

Profound's pricing page shows two columns — a free Trial and an Enterprise plan priced on request — and no monetary figure anywhere. The trial runs 10 prompts once, on ChatGPT only, in one language and one region, with no history, exports or API. Bluemoon publishes every self-serve plan: Starter, Core and Growth, monthly, in the currency of the country you are in, with the prompt and model counts next to the price. Third-party blogs quote self-serve Profound tiers; those figures are not on Profound's own pricing page and we will not repeat them.

  2. 02

What a rate is allowed to hide

Answer engines give different answers to the same question, so every visibility rate is an estimate. Bluemoon shows the number of answers behind every rate, in the same place and at the same size, and refuses to print a rate below a minimum sample — you get the count and a dash instead. We have not found an equivalent published commitment from Profound; if there is one, tell us and this page changes.

  3. 03

    Measurement, or measurement plus production

Profound has deliberately moved up the stack: AI Marketer, Agents and Context Manager research, draft and publish content into a CMS with an approval step. Bluemoon stops at the brief. We think the evidence and the copy should be separable — the team that writes your content should not be the team that grades it — but that is our opinion, and if you would rather buy one thing than two, it is an argument for Profound.

  4. 04

    Where the data is processed

Profound's subprocessor annex lists its processors in the United States, with EU transfers made under Standard Contractual Clauses; we found no EU, UK or Swiss residency option. Bluemoon is built in Switzerland by a Swiss company and lists every subprocessor and what it does on the security page. Neither of us should be taken on trust here: read both lists.

Where Profound is stronger

Not a hedge. These are the reasons a well-run team buys the other product, and we would rather you read them here than find them after signing.

Scale, and the resources that come with it

Profound announced a $180M Series D at a $1.8B valuation on 15 September 2026, co-led by Sequoia Capital and Kleiner Perkins, less than seven months after a $96M Series C. It says it is used by more than 1,000 enterprise brands. Bluemoon is an independent Swiss company at an earlier stage, which means a shorter line between you and the people who build it. If vendor scale is part of your risk assessment, both of those belong in it.

Enterprise controls we do not have yet

Profound publishes SOC 2 Type 2 and HIPAA compliance, SSO and SAML, and a support tier with a 24-hour SLA. Bluemoon's security page lists controls we can verify today rather than certifications. If your procurement requires a current certificate at signature, Profound clears that today and we do not. Where the gate can be met with evidence, we answer security questionnaires from the documented controls, subprocessors and data flows on that page.

Prompt-demand data from consumer panels

Profound's Prompt Volumes licenses conversations from double-opt-in consumer panels to estimate how often a prompt is actually asked. That is a demand-side dataset; Bluemoon measures the answers, not the volume of questions. They do note that its geographic coverage is a defined list of countries, which as published does not include Switzerland.

Profound — Prompt Volumes

A wider engine list on paper

Profound's pricing page lists nine answer surfaces, including DeepSeek and Exa Search. Bluemoon reads seven today, and Growth is the plan that covers all of them. We add a surface when we can collect it properly in every market on the plan, rather than when it can be listed.

Pricing, stated carefully

Profound's pricing page, read on 18 September 2026, shows a free Trial and an Enterprise plan marked Custom, with no monetary amount anywhere on the page. Several third-party blogs publish specific Profound monthly prices; those figures do not appear on Profound's own pricing page, and one of those sources labels its own estimate unconfirmed, so we do not repeat them. Bluemoon's prices are on our pricing page in full.

If you do switch

What moving actually involves, written for someone who has already decided to look.

  1. Bring your prompt set as a list. Both products start from the questions you already know your buyers ask, so that part of the work moves with you.
  2. Historical answers do not move between platforms. Run both for a few weeks if the history matters to you, and compare the two on the same questions rather than on each vendor's own dashboard.
  3. Check your contract date. Enterprise agreements usually renew annually, and the time to evaluate an alternative is well before that, not after.
  4. Start with one market and 50 questions. If the picture matches what you already believe about that market, widen it.

How we checked

So you can repeat it.

On 18 September 2026 we read Profound's public pages end to end — product, pricing, documentation and legal — and recorded what each page says. We did not sign up for their product, test it, or benchmark it against ours: a vendor's own evaluation of a rival is worth very little, and their terms may not permit it. So everything here is about what they publish, not about how well it works.

Where two of their pages disagree, we say so and use the live one. Where we could not verify a claim, it is not on this page at all, including claims that would have flattered us. Figures move; this page carries the date it was checked, and we would rather correct it than leave it.

Questions people actually ask

Is Bluemoon a Profound alternative for an enterprise team?
For measurement, yes — the Enterprise and Government plan is scoped by contract and covers all seven answer surfaces, multimarket collection and reporting. For procurement gates like SOC 2, not yet: our security page lists only what we can verify today, and a certification is not on it. Ask us where that stands rather than assuming.
Does Bluemoon write content the way Profound's AI Marketer does?
No. Bluemoon produces an evidence-backed brief: the question, the engines, the market, the answers and the sources behind the gap. Your team or your agency writes from it. If you want one platform that also drafts and publishes, that is a real argument for Profound.
Which one covers more answer engines?
Profound's pricing page lists nine; Bluemoon reads seven today, all seven on the Growth plan. We would rather add an engine when we can collect it properly in each market than count it on a page, but if raw engine count decides it for you, Profound lists more.
How much does Profound cost?
We do not know, and we will not guess. Their pricing page publishes no monetary figure — a free trial and an Enterprise plan marked Custom. Ask them.
Can I use both?
Plenty of teams evaluate two tools on the same prompt set for a month. Run the same questions, in the same markets, over the same period, and compare what each one can show you behind its numbers, not only the numbers themselves.
